What a week, with the US side of things settled down and hosting plans going well on the shared server here is Ausralia I thought that would be the end of infrastructure changes for a while at least.

That was not to be, ActKM’s new website and the associated Discussion List is proving to be particularly popular. With a membership signup that continues to grow daily and a healthy participation in the discussions they were fast approching the limits of what the shared account was allowed.

And since we started offering hosting on Australian hardware that too is proving more popular, we had expected it to do so but not quite as quickly as it has been :) . To meet both needs we have a new Australian VPS in Sydney set up this week in addition to the US one in Virginia.

Both systems are running cPanel on Linux, The US server is eagle.webydns.com.au or just “Eagle” for short and the Australian one is falcon.webydns.com.au or “Falcon”. Why bird names well we needed something that would be consistant and our shared server accounts were Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta so when we went up to the dedicated the next letter was E and we decided a better name was in order so Eagle and we went from there!

Hopefully that will be the end of major changes and upgrades, at least there ’should’ be no more moves just additions to the family as we need more space.

All moved over now with only a couple of glitches due to different software versions but now that’s all sorted out it’s full steam ahead. All domains should have finished DNS propagation by now so everything seems to have gone smoothly (touch wood).
